Carl Morlock

Carl Morlock, age 79, of Moorhead, MN, died Monday, January 27, 2014, in Essentia Health, Fargo, ND.

Carl was born April 9, 1934, in Gackle, ND, to Peter and Katherine (Veil) Morlock. He graduated from Gackle High School and then taught country school for two years. In 1955, he married Della Mae Fischer, and they where married for 58 years. They made their home in Fargo, ND. In 1957, they moved to Moorhead, where they still reside.

Carl worked at Sears for 13 years in the sporting goods, hardware, automotives, tires and furniture departments. He worked for Simon's Furniture in Moorhead for nine years as a sales and personnel manager. He then became self-employed as a sales representative for various furniture companies and retired in 2011.

Carl was an active member of The Lutheran Church of Christ the King in Moorhead for nearly 50 years. Within the church, he served on the church council, was president of the church council, president of the men's club, and enthusiastically supported the new church building addition. He was also a charter member of Vikingland Kiwanis. Carl enjoyed summer camping at Ridgewood Resort, woodworking, and gardening. He was a huge fan of the Minnesota Twins. He loved watching and supporting his grandchildren in their sports, music, and any extra-curricular activities.

Carl is survived by his loving wife, Della; his three sons, Gregg (Barb), Dean (Julie) and Paul (Jean); nine grandchildren, Grant (Megan), Quinn (Tyler), Laura, Chad (Eda), Adam, Cassandra, Brett, Chase and Lance; great-grandson, Kai; sister, LuElla (Norbert) Kleingartner; and many nieces and nephews.

Carl was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Marvin, Louie and Art Morlock; sister-in-law, Viona Morlock; niece, LaRae Murch; nephew, David Kleingartner; and great-niece, Valerie Murch.

Memorials can be made to The Lutheran Church of Christ the King Building Fund, or to Evergreen Memorial Cemetery.

Visitation: Friday, 5 PM until 7 PM, with prayer service at 7, in Korsmo Funeral Chapel, Moorhead.
