Carlla L. Ramstad

November 11, 1941 — April 3, 2010

Carlla Luella Lomsdal, age 94 years, died peacefully at Willmar Commons in Willmar MN, on April 3, 2010.
On December 22, 1915, Carlla was the 5th child of Olga (Iverson) and Knute Lomsdal at their farm home in Hitterdal, MN. She was baptized and confirmed at the Salem Lutheran Church and graduated from Hitterdal High School on June 1, 1934. Due to an illness in the family, she could not continue her education.

Carlla was employed by the Hitterdal school district as the superintendent's secretary. She then worked at the Sweets Shop in Detroit Lakes.

At the First Lutheran Church in Detroit Lakes, Carlla married Lyman Whitney Ramstad of Hawley, MN on August 7, 1940. She held various clerical and secretarial jobs in Hawley, such as at the Johnson's Department Store, Dr. Duane Thysell's medical clinic, and the local veterinarian clinic. Their first child, Katherine Ann, was born stillborn on November 11, 1941. Then their second child, James Michael, was born on August 7, 1946. Their third child, JaneMarie, was born on May 10, 1952. All births occurred at the St. Ansgar Hospital in Moorhead.

While living in Hawley, Carlla was an active member at the Hawley Lutheran Church, She taught Sunday school for 25 years, served on several committees for the ALCW, serving as their president for 2 years, on church council and on the building parsonage committee. Carlla belonged to card groups, the Hawley Garden club, and Rebekah Lodge. Additionally, she was a group leader for her son's Cub Scouts, and her daughter's Bluebird group.

In May 1965, she moved to Granite Falls, MN, where she continued her career in sales working at the Neal's Variety Store, Skogsmo, and Ben Franklin. Carlla and Lyman belonged to the Granite Falls Lutheran Church, where she was involved in church activities, such as teaching Sunday school, serving on the wedding committee, and as deacon on the church's council. Additionally she maintained her involvement with playing cards and was a member of the League of Women Voters.

Following retirement in 1978, they returned to Moorhead. She joined the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, where she resumed her participation in church organizations. She volunteered at the St. Ansgar Hospital until its closing. She also volunteered a
Lyman died on July 6, 1998. In 2005, Carlla moved into Eventide Catered Living Center, and inn August of 2008 she moved to St. Cloud, MN, to live closer to her daughter. In September of 2008, she moved into Willmar Commons.

Carlla is survived by her son, Jim(Marsha) Ramstad of Peoria AZ; daughter, Jane Hennen, of St. Cloud; grandchildren, Kris (Chris) Boivin and Andrea (Milton) Williams, both from Peoria, Tricia (James) Mages of Alexandria, MN, Katie (Tom) Jones of New Londo
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter; grandson, Jonathan James Ramstad who died in July 2000; brothers, Obert, Leonard, Clifford, Lambert, Clifford, Edward and sisters, Harriet Dunham and Bernice Hendrickson.

Her funeral will be Friday, April 23, 2010, at 11 AM, in the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, Moorhead, with burial in Hawley Cemetery, Hawley, MN.
