Carol Rehder, 69, Dilworth, MN, passed away peacefully at Sanford Medical Center in Fargo, ND, on Thursday, November 3, 2016, surrounded by her family and friends.
Carol Lynn Hilde was born October 9, 1947, in Fargo, to Melvin and Alice (Syverson) Hilde. She grew up on a farm in Hagen Township and graduated from Felton (MN) High School in 1965, where she was an honor student and active in cheerleading. She attended Moorhead State University after high school and worked for the Felton Telephone Company.
On September 30, 1967, she married her high school sweetheart, Joel "Joe" Rehder in Ulen, MN. Together they had two sons, Joel Jr. and Michael. Carol and Joe made their home in Fargo until 1973 when they moved to Dilworth. Carol worked in the Cass County Treasurer's Office and the Cass County Sheriff's Office for a combined total of 38 years, until her retirement in 2010.
Carol loved life. She loved spending time at the lake, listening to music, discussing politics, laughing, baking, Elvis, and most of all, spending time with her family, friends, and her grandchildren. She had a wonderful way with words, a beautiful singing voice, and an extremely sharp sense of humor. She was a beautiful lady inside and out. It would be hard to decide what shined brighter, her smile or her very true and generous heart. She will be dearly missed by all who had the good fortune to call her wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend.
Carol is survived by her husband, Joe Rehder, of Dilworth; their dog, Kate; sons, Joel (Penny) Rehder of Moorhead, and Michael Rehder of Fargo; her granddaughter, Ellie Rehder; grandson, Coleman Rehder; brothers, Orvin Hilde of Ulen, and Brent (Brenda) Hilde of Felton; brothers and sisters-in- law, Jim and Barb Rehder, Judy Rehder and Arlene Rehder; seven nephews; seven nieces; and MANY friends. Carol was preceded in death by her parents, sister, Arlene Sprunk, and brother, Donald Hilde.
A Gathering of Friends for Carol will be Wednesday from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, in Korsmo Funeral Chapel, Moorhead.
Her Celebration of Life Service will be Thursday, November 10, 2016, at 1 PM, in Dilworth Lutheran Church, Dilworth.
