Cassie Jo Hanson passed away unexpectedly at her home on Feb 28, 2024, at the age of 45.
She was born on September 30th, 1978, to Curtis Hanson and Cheryl (Wiskow) Gross in Park Rapids, MN. She attended elementary school in Park Rapids and later moved to Roseau to continue her high school years. After high school Cassie worked at different jobs including waitressing, food preparation and as a CNA before deciding to attend college at the University of Wisconsin where she graduated with her associate degree in criminal justice/corrections.
In the year 2000 Cassie became a proud mother to her daughter Tessa. Love has no boundaries when it comes to your child, and this was certainly the case when it came to Cassie and her daughter. She loved and protected her with all her heart. Tessa was the greatest joy in Cassie’s life, and she will forever be grateful to call herself a mother.
Growing up, Cassie was always remembered as having the bravest spirit and a sense of humor that could light up a room. She was fun-loving and always ready for the next adventure. From outside night games with neighbors and siblings to dock jumping into the local lake, you could always expect her to be a leader, the first to take the leap. Her silliness was contagious, and she loved to laugh and tease with whoever would join in.
Cassie loved the water, and most would know that she cherished dolphins. She enjoyed her experiences with the ocean and the amazing time that she got to spend with her family there. Cassie had a love of art and practiced her drawing as often as she could. She loved fishing, hiking and almost anything outdoors. Like her family, she strongly loved her pets and always kept them near to her heart. Her adoration for her kitties was well known. She treasured her family and friends and would do anything for them. With her feisty and protective nature, you could always count on her to be there for you and ready to listen. She had a heart that gave without hesitation and that was something to be admired. Through her trials and tribulations her faith never wavered. She was a child of God and was very proud of her faith.
When you think of Cassie, think of her with a smile…she was a daughter, a mother, a sister, a friend and so much more. She was loved deeply and will be missed with all our hearts.
Cassie is survived by her mother, Cheryl Gross and stepfather, Clint Gross, of Kennedy, MN; father Curtis Hanson, of Granite Falls, MN; sister, Christy (Tyler) Hovda, of Roseau, MN; brother, Chad (Summer) Hanson, of Eugene, OR; stepbrothers, Gary Gross and Larry Gross both of Roseau, MN; grandmother, Clarice Wiskow of Roseau, MN; nephews, Bodee, Kade and Breck Hovda; nieces, Lina and Mia Hanson; many aunts, uncles and cousins that she loved; and Ashley Holt (Joey) and her children (Taryn, Toby and Ty) who were a big part of her life.
