Charles W. Peterson, 80, Moorhead, MN, passed away peacefully on January 29, 2008, at Rosewood on Broadway, Fargo, ND.
Charles was born February 22, 1927, in Hillsboro, ND, to Christ and Inga Peterson, and was raised in Portland, ND. Charles enlisted in the US Navy in 1945. Following his discharge, Charles attended UND in Grand Forks, ND, and Mayville (ND) State College, where he received a degree in English and Education.
On June 7, 1952, Charles married Betty Johnson at the Little Brown Church in the Vale, at Nashua, Iowa. Charles was a lifelong educator, having served in several Minnesota and North Dakota schools as teacher, principal, and superintendent.
Chuck greatly enjoyed his time working each year at the Rollag Steam Threshers. He was also an active supporter of the Hjemkomst project. He and his son, Brad, met the ship in Norway at the conclusion of its journey.
Charles is survived by his three children, Michelle, Moorhead, Lori (Shahab), Minneapolis, MN, and Bradley (Vernell), Nashville, TN. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, and two sisters.
Private services were held at Korsmo Funeral Chapel, Moorhead, on Friday, February 1, 2008.
