Cheryl A. Saarinen

Cheryl A. Saarinen, 74, of Dilworth, MN, passed away Monday, November 27, 2023, at Essentia Health, Fargo, ND. 

Cheryl Ann Gilchrist was born July 18, 1949, the daughter of Douglas and Virgina (Thievin) Gilchrist, in Scobey, MT.  She was raised and attended school in Peerless, MT. She met and married Orville Novak.  They made their home in Roseau, MN, where together they had three wonderful boys.   

Cheryl later moved to Dilworth, MN and worked for Premier Technology in West Fargo.  On November 22, 1994, she was united in marriage to Delwyn “Del” Saarinen in Sisseton, SD.   They made their home in Dilworth and Del passed away on December 11, 2005.   

Cheryl enjoyed cross-stitch, gardening in her flower and vegetable gardens, sudoku and crossword puzzles, and singing karaoke.  She also liked to bake and loved making banana bread to share with family and friends.  One of her greatest joys was spending time with her grandchildren.   

She is survived by her sons, Robert (Lynnette) Novak, Roseau, MN; Phil (Felicia) Novak, Moorhead, MN, and Delroy (Angela) Novak, Bemidji, MN; grandchildren, Jadyn and Kyla, Karys and Kenley, and Nicholas, Alexander and Zachary; siblings, Billie Spriggle, Mary Gilchrist, Mark Gilchrist and Tim Gilchrist; and several nieces and nephews.   

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Del; siblings, Winifred, Dennis and Marilyn; and infant brother, James Robert.   

Private Family Services will be held.
