Chester Merlin Ingebretson was born September 28, 1915, in Ulen, MN, to Peter and Mabel (Lovaas) Ingebretson, and was raised on the family farm. Chet attended grade school at a local school in Becker County and then his first year of high school in Twin Valley, MN. Chet attended Northwest School of Agriculture, in Crookston, MN, for three years. He graduated in 1937 and returned to farm with his family.
Chet was united in marriage to Ilith Brandt, on October 21, 1939, in Grace City, ND, and they made their home on the farm in Ulen. They moved to Moorhead, MN, in February of 1942, and Chet began work with Fairmont Creamery. In August of 1942, Chet began work with Dakota Tractor Company, Fargo, ND, which later became Butler Machinery Company. Chet retired in 1983, after forty years of service.
Chet entered Moorhead Health Care Center in May of this year, and on Thursday, June 22, 2006, he went to be with his Lord and Savior, at ninety years of age.
Chet is survived by his wife of sixty-six years, Ilith, Moorhead. Their marriage was blessed with five children: Carmen (Fred) Schwenk, Manhattan, KS, Denise (Roger) Thompson, Rapid City, SD, Steven (Pamela) Wichita, KS, Mark (Betty), Glyndon, MN, and Bennett, Lowell, MI; eighteen grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a brother, Ervin (Carol), Champlin, MN.
Chet served on the board of directors for Child Evangelism Fellowship (CEF) for many years. He was also very active in the ministry of Camp JOY. As an active member of Calvary Baptist Church, Chet served in many capacities.
Visitation for Chet will be Sunday, June 25, 2006, from 5 - 7 PM, in Korsmo Funeral Chapel, Moorhead. His funeral will be Monday, June 26, 2006, at 1 PM, in Calvary Baptist Church, Fargo. Burial will follow in Walworth Baptist Cemetery, near Ulen.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to either Camp JOY or to CEF of Fargo-Moorhead, in care of his family.
