Christi Lynn DesSaint, age 41, of Moorhead, MN, died Tuesday March 30, 2004 in her home under Hospice care following a two year battle with cancer.
Christi Lynn Smith was born July 10, 1962 in Hartford Connecticut, the daughter of Bob and Kay Smith. Her family also lived in Rockford, IL and Scottsdale, AZ before moving to Fargo, ND, when Christi was in the ninth grade. Christi graduated from Fargo North High School and Moorhead State University where she received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music Therapy.
During high school and college Christi worked for Hornbachers. In May of 1986, Christi joined Moorhead Health Care Center as an Activities Assistant. Christi was also a long-time member of the F-M Piano Teachers Association and taught many students in the area. Christi had a life-long love of music. She began singing at the age of two and began composing music for the piano in the second grade. She received many awards throughout her life for her musical compositions and often composed music for weddings and other special occasions.
Christi and her husband Dan DesSaint were married on August 10, 1990 and they made their home in Moorhead. Christi was an energetic, positive, giving person with a great sense of humor. She loved her husband and children deeply and they were always her first concern. She often said that they were the reason she fought so hard in her battle against cancer.
Christi is survived by her husband Dan DesSaint and their children Carly (8) and Jordan (5), Moorhead; parents Bob and Kay Smith, West Fargo, ND; two brothers Tim Smith, Taiwan, and Dan Smith and his children Stephanie (8) and Brian (5), Apple Valley, MN; sister Cheri Alexander and her children Kyle (9) and Jessica (7), West Fargo, ND; and grandparents Glenn and Doris Smith, Fargo, and Eleanor Ekblad, Rochester, MN.
Visitation: Thursday, 6 PM to 7 PM,
with a prayer service at 7 PM,
