Christine "Chick" Kastrinos

Christine Dorothy Kastrinos passed away at her home on January 31, 2008. She was born on April 28, 1970, to Larry and Elaine Kastrinos in Concord, NH. She then moved to Walcott, ND, and graduated in 1988 from Kindred High School, where she excelled in music and track; bringing home many ribbons. After graduation, she enrolled at Moorhead State and later transferred to NDSU where she majored in English and joined the Kappa Alpha Theta sorority.
In 1996, Christine was in a car accident that left her a vent dependent quadriplegic. She continued to live life to the fullest. She was politically active and fought for the rights of the disabled. She was on the executive board for Freedom Resource Center for Independent Living for six years. She wrote a series of cookbooks that benefited a scholarship she set up for nursing students. Christine also supported a child from Brazil, Antonio, whom she loved dearly. She was proud of her contributions to the YWCA and wished she could have been more active for them.
Christine was especially grateful for her good friends: Duck, Alan, and Delmer for sharing her love of archery with them. She will be dearly missed by the Chubs gang and the wonderful nurses and doctors who became some of her closest friends.
She is survived by her parents Larry and Elaine, Fargo, ND; brother Ross and Janey, Ohio; Carol Kastrinos, Wisconsin; nephews, Jason and Dane, Wisconsin; brother, Nicholas and close friend Angelo, Fargo; brother Christopher (Deanna), Lincoln, NE; nephews Grant and Spencer, and niece, Mia Christine, Lincoln, NE; sister Rebecca (Philip) Williams, Bell, FL; nephews Sollie and Ben and niece Laura, Bell, FL.
She was preceded in death by the love of her life Justin Skinn and her best friends Dewey, Andy, Lonny and Pinky.
"Chick" was a joyous, loving person who put sunshine in to everybody's life. Her one regret will be that she won't be able to vote for Hilary. Chick will be missed by so many, especially her mom, who devoted her life to her as caregiver and soulmate.
Visitation for Chick will be Monday, February 4, 2008, from 6 - 8 PM, in Korsmo Funeral Chapel, Moorhead, MN.
Her funeral will be Tuesday, February 5, 2008, at 2 PM, in Shiloh Evangelical Free Church, West Fargo, ND.
