Christine J. Wald, age 97, Moorhead, MN, died Saturday, July 2, 2011, in Golden Living Center in Moorhead.
Christine Josephine Klein, daughter of John and Margaret (Lemer) Klein, was born at Karlsruhe, ND, on September 19, 1913. She grew up and received her education in the Karlsruhe area.
Christine was married to Joseph Wald on November 21, 1934. They farmed near Lakota, ND, East Grand Forks, Mallory, Fischer, Crookston, and St. Hillaire, all MN, and finally at Thief River Falls, MN. In Thief River Falls, Christine worked as a nursing assistant at Northwestern Hospital. Her husband, Joseph, died January 27, 1986. After Christine retired at the age of 73, she moved to the Fargo-Moorhead area, where she had lived since, most recently at River Pointe in Moorhead.
Christine is survived by three children, Gerald (Janet) Wald, Cokato, MN, Leo (Diane) Wald, Moorhead, and JoAnn (Larry) Ranum, Crookston; eight brothers and sisters, John (Regina) Klein, Mathilda (Andy) Wald, Emanuel (Angela) Klein, Theodore Klein, Regina Wald, Allen (Elaine) Klein, Theresa (Bud) Salem, and Cornelius (Cecelia) Klein; 13 grandchildren; 4 step-grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; and 8 step-great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband, Joseph, and her parents, Christine was preceded in death by a grandson, Nick Schultz; three sisters, Mary Moreno, Catherine Weist, and an infant girl; and five brothers, Alex, Peter, Sebastian, Edward, and Pius Klein.
Visitation: Wednesday, 5 PM to 8 PM, with a prayer service at 7 PM, in Korsmo Funeral Chapel, Moorhead.
Funeral mass: Thursday, July 7, 2011, at 11 AM in St. Joseph Catholic Church, Moorhead.
Burial: St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery, Moorhead.
