Christopher E. Brown, 64, passed away in the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley, at this home in Moorhead, MN, with family by his side on Thursday, November 21, 2024.
Chris was a man of faith. He had a good life and had God in his heart. His faith lead him through his health crisis’ head on until his body wore out from diabetes, end-stage renal disease and heart issues. Chris started dialysis in 2017 and after passing training, he was able to perform his dialysis at home, with the support of the Sanford Dialysis team, when needed. Chris chose to donate his body to UND for research at the medical school.
Chris was a smart, kind, and funny man. He loved to cook and was great at it – especially with the smoker at home. He used cooking to bring people together and his knoephla was the best. He could whip up great dishes with just a few ingredients. He also developed new menu items.
Chris worked in restaurants most of his life. Restaurants in Jamestown, ND, were The Depot, Ramada Inn, and Big Jim’s and Truck Stop. While living in Bismarck, ND, he worked at the truck stop and Kroll’s. Around 1999, he moved to Fargo, ND, and he continued to work at Kroll’s at the Diner. He retired as a kitchen manager around 2018 due to his health.
Chris was born in Jamestown to Vern and Mary Brown and the family resided in Courtenay, ND. He joined siblings Michael (who died 1998) and Sharon. The Brown’s moved to Jamestown in 1966 where Chris attended school.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Michael; his grandparents; and aunts and uncles.
Chris is survived by sons, Skyler Brown of Wahpeton, ND, and Ryan Brown of Fargo; stepchildren, Jackie (Scott) Schwartzman Ehresman, Kristie Wohlwind, Mark Schwartzman, and Thomas Schwartzman; sister, Sharon (Gerard) Senne of Bismarck; his grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Chris had a special affection for his stepchildren.
A special thank you to Journey Fellowship Church for their spiritual leadership and prayers, the Sanford Dialysis team and Hospice of the Red River Valley for their care of Chris.
Chris was an avid NDSU Bison and Kansas City Chiefs fan so please wear your favorite Bison clothing to his service, if you would like.
In memory of Chris, we ask that you love your family and spread some kindness every day.
