Clarence Mickels

May 21, 1916 — September 4, 2006

Clarence F. Mickels was born May 21, 1916 in Sauk Centre, MN to Joseph and Margaret (Minnette) Mickels. He grew up on a farm near Sauk Centre and attended Sauk Centre schools graduating in the class of 1934. He joined the 9th. Air Force in 1941, served in Europe, and was discharged in 1945.


Clarence worked for Standard Oil pipeline at Sauk Centre for many years. On May 12, 1948, he was married to Bonita Otte in Melrose, MN. In 1954, the couple moved to Moorhead, MN where he continued to work for Standard Oil pipeline. From 1959 to 1972, Clarence worked as pipeline dispatcher for Standard Oil until his retirement. He worked as janitor for St. Francis de Sales school and church in Moorhead until 1976.


Throughout his life, Clarence maintained a strong work ethic. His family was most important to him and he was an avid sports fan. He died at his home on September 4, 2006 at the age of 90 years.


Survivors include his wife, Bonita; three sons, two daughters and their spouses: James Mickels of Moorhead, MN, Shirley (Don) Stebbins of Moose Lake, MN, Ken (Sherry) Mickels and Ron (Deb) Mickels, both of Fargo, ND, and Sharon (Lorne) Eide of Eagan, MN; seven grandchildren; and one sister Rose Anderson of Anoka, MN.


Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Loretta Bierschback and a brother, John Mickels.

601 5th Ave. N., Moorhead, MN,
with a prayer service at 7 PM.

Friday (Sept. 8, 2006) 10:30 AM,
St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church.


INTERMENT: St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery,
Moorhead, MN.
