Clarence V. Chelin

Clarence Victor Chelin was born October 23, 1926, in Hawley, MN, to Gust and Ida (Sahlberg) Chelin. Clarence was raised in the Hawley and Ulen, MN, areas where he attended rural schools.

Clarence married Linda M. Day and they lived and farmed in the Hitterdal, MN, area. They later divorced. Clarence did some custom combining as well as worked at the Horace (ND) Farmers Elevator. He also attended seminary training for a time.

Clarence moved to the Fargo-Moorhead area and worked as a custodian for many years at Horace Mann Elementary School and later at Pontoppidan Lutheran Church, Fargo. He and his special friend, Arlene Scheffler, spent many years together later in life.

Clarence lived at Golden Living Center, Moorhead for several years before entering Arbor Park Assisted Living, Moorhead, in June of 2013. Clarence died Wednesday, February 26, 2014, at Arbor Park, at eighty-seven years of age.

Clarence is survived by his daughter, Beth Dauner, West Fargo, ND; son, David Chelin, Middleton, WI; two grandsons, Joshua and Brian; sister, Gladys Ingebretsen, Moorhead; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will begin at 1 PM, followed by a funeral at 2 PM, Friday, February 28, 2014, in Pontoppidan Lutheran Church, Fargo.
