Clayton Richards, 66, Georgetown, MN, died Saturday, April 3, 2010, in a tragic farm accident near Georgetown.
Clayton Richards was born March 27, 1944, in Moorhead, MN, to Arnold and Anna Richards. He attended Georgetown Elementary School and graduated from Moorhead High School. After graduation, he attended North Dakota State University, Fargo, ND.
On January 17, 1970, Clayton married April Kreps in Fargo. They made their home in Moorhead before moving to Georgetown, where they have made their home for the last 39 years. Clayton farmed his entire life. During the winter, he also worked construction, drove truck across the country, worked for TranSystems, and any other job he could find to support his family.
Clayton was a great husband, father, father-in-law, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. He was considered a gentle giant who would do anything for anyone. Clayton was a hard worker who always had to be doing something. He loved vacationing with his kids and wife when they were younger. He also enjoyed spending time in Jamaica with his wife, April, where he had become a beach potato who loved to read books, sometimes as many as ten on a two week vacation.
Clayton loved his family, who he would do anything for and who he spoiled unconditionally. He had many friends and it was hard to find a person who did not like him. His death has affected many and he will be missed by us all.
Clayton was preceded in death by his parents, Arnold and Anna; two grandchildren, Angela and Jason; a nephew, Todd; a brother, Don; his father-in-law, Bill Kreps; and a brother-in-law, Dave Anderson.
He is lovingly survived by his wife of forty years, April; his three girls, Tanya (Adam Nylander) Richards, Dilworth, MN, Nichoel (Scott) Skramstad, Burnsville, MN and Amanda Richards, St. Paul, MN; his grandchildren, Marshall and Alexandra Richards and I
