Clayton "Tuffy" Ambuehl

Clayton Howard Ambuehl was born December 25, 1922, in Ada, MN, to Anton and Magdelena (Wolle) Ambuehl. "Tuffy," as he was affectionately known, was raised in Borup, MN, where he graduated from high school. He worked at the Ada Dairy for four years and later ran the Downer (MN) Elevator for three years.

Tuffy married Wilma Moe on November 14, 1945, in Grand Forks, ND, and they made their home in Moorhead, MN. He worked as a truck driver for Kost Brothers, Moorhead, for thirty-two years. Tuffy enjoyed retirement by following the activities of his grandchildren, especially their sporting events. He enjoyed sports of all kinds and followed the Minnesota Twins and Vikings very closely.

Tuffy entered Bethany on University, Fargo, ND, in August of 2010, and Wilma died May 14, 2012. With his family by his side, Tuffy died Monday, February 3, 2014, at Bethany on University, at ninety-one years of age.

Tuffy is survived by his daughters, Sharon (Tom) Hunt, Roseville, MN, Cindi Jones, New Richmond, WI, and Deborah Griffin, Fargo; son, Rod (Linda) Ambuehl, Fargo; six grandchildren, Carla (Robert) Shafer, Chris Hunt, Jason (April) Degler, Matthew Griffin, Cody (Kelli) Griffin, Sarah (Wade) Iverson; one stepgranddaughter, Chris (Dennis) Lehman; seven great-grandchildren, Tom Shafer, Derrek Shafer, Autumn Degler, Dylan Degler, Heather Degler, Jaydin Iverson, and Ethan Iverson; two stepgreat-grandchildren, Ally Lehman and Mady Lehman; and one sister, Theresa "Tudy" Kappes, Moorhead.

In addition to his wife, Tuffy was preceded in death by a great-granddaughter, Ellie Joy Iverson; and six brothers.

Visitation for Tuffy will be Friday, February 7, 2014, from 5 - 7 PM, with a prayer service at 6:30 PM, in Korsmo Funeral Chapel, Moorhead.

His funeral will be Saturday, February 8, 2014, at 11 AM, in The Lutheran Church of Christ the King, Moorhead.

Burial will follow in Moorhead Memorial Gardens.
