Clifford E. Johnson, 93, died Monday, May 30, 2022, in Sanford Health, Fargo, ND.
Cliff, known to many as “Bud”, was born November 25, 1928, to Theodore and Mabel (Erstad) Johnson in Hibbing, MN. He was the couple’s second son. The family moved to Detroit Lakes, MN, and it was here that Cliff met the love of his life, Delores Jaeger. They were united in marriage on June 3, 1950, and resided in Moorhead, MN. To this union were four daughters, Carelyn, Marilyn, Roselyn and Jacklyn.
Cliff wore many hats during his working career. He was a chauffeur, delivery driver, tow truck operator and later owner of Johnson Drag-In Towing. Later in his career, Cliff worked for the City of Moorhead and drove semi for area businesses in Fargo-Moorhead until his retirement.
Cliff enjoyed spending time with his family at the lake, water skiing and fishing. He enjoyed squaring dancing with his wife Delores in many different area events including state and regional square dance conventions. He had a passion for woodworking, making many pieces with the scroll saw through the years. Many fond memories were made playing cribbage and attending the Minnesota State Fair.
When Cliff wasn’t behind the wheel anymore, you would often see him riding his tricycle bike around north Moorhead for hours on end, visiting friends and local construction workers. Cliff was always “the man behind the camera”, capturing the smiles, laughter, and tears. He was a devoted husband, dad, grandpa, great grandpa and great great grandpa.
He is survived by his daughters, Carelyn Johnson, Moorhead, Marilyn Martin, Moorhead, Roselyn (Roger) Haaland, Fargo and Jacklyn Blanton, Gray, GA; grandchildren, April (Jason) Hilde, Rebecca (Steve) Ueland, Sarah (Jeff) Mitchell, Christopher Knopp, Shaun Haaland, David W.
