Colleen Mahlum

Colleen Mae Mahlum 86, of Glyndon, MN, died Friday, April 17, 2020, in Essentia Hospital, Fargo, ND.
Colleen was born to Bert and Karen (Elstad) Connell on September 13, 1933. She was raised on the family farm in Richwood, MN. She attended school through eighth grade in Richwood and graduated from high school in Detroit Lakes, MN.
She married Wallace Mahlum on December 5, 1951, in Detroit Lakes. After living several years in Richwood, they moved to Glyndon, where they raised their family of four children. During the years her children were in school, she worked in the kitchen at the school in Glyndon.
She was happy and content living a simple life. She loved being a wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, friend, and taking care of her home. She especially enjoyed phone calls and visits from her family. She asked for little but gave so much.
Colleen is survived by her husband, Wallace; two sons, Wayne (Jean) Mahlum, Glyndon, Jeffrey Mahlum, Dilworth, MN; daughter, Shirleen (Roger) Wyland, Glyndon; 12 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Joey Mahlum; and brother, Bert Patrick Connell.
Due to COVID-19, the family will hold a private family service, followed by burial at Riverside Cemetery, Glyndon. Video of the funeral service will be made available at www.korsmofuneralservice.com
