Corrine Mavis Thom, 86, formerly of Brooklyn Park, MN, left this earth Friday, November 27, 2020, at Serenity Assisted Living, Dilworth, MN, with family by her side.
On September 10, 1934, Corrine was born on the family farm in rural Glyndon, MN, to Carl and Erna Thom. She attended Glyndon School and graduated from there in 1952. She went on to earn her teaching degree from Moorhead Teachers College. Her first teaching job was in Park Rapids, MN, teaching 3rd grade. After two years she taught 6th grade at Morris Bye Elementary in Coon Rapids, MN. She continued to teach there for 35 years. Teaching was her passion. She also enjoyed time at the lake and traveled extensively to all 50 states and many foreign countries, including China, Greece, Europe and many others, often as a tour guide.
Corrine was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Ernst; nephew, Brian; and friend, Katherine. She leaves behind her brother, Charles (Jan) Thom, Portola Valley, CA; sister, Irene (Gerald) Arends, Perley, MN; five nephews; two nieces; and many great nieces and nephews.
Memorials preferred to Hospice of the Red River Valley and Serenity Living Center. Corrine was loved by so many and will be greatly missed.
The visitation for Corrine will be Friday, December 4, 2020, from 1 PM until 2 PM, with her funeral service being held at 2 PM, in Korsmo Funeral Chapel, Moorhead, MN. She will be buried in Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, Sabin, MN.
