Craig A. Scheer, 43, Fargo, ND, died Monday, May 7, 2012, in an auto accident near McVille, ND.
Craig, the son of William and Elaine (Erickson) Scheer, was born in Fargo on June 9, 1968. He grew up in Moorhead, and then in rural Hawley, MN. Craig graduated from Barnesville (MN) High School in 1986. Craig graduated cum laude from the University of North Dakota in Grand Forks, ND, in 1990, with a Bachelor of Science in Aeronautical Studies Degree. Craig also attended and graduated from San Jose State University with the degrees of Master of Science in Electrical Engineering and Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering in 1996. Craig's master's thesis work involved developing a controller for a condensation nucleus counter used to improve particle counts for deposition standards. Craig was an inventor of several issued patents and also has several patents pending. Many of these same patents are issued or pending in foreign countries as well. He was in the ROTC at UND, and was commissioned as an officer in the US Army Reserve, following his graduation.
Craig was married to Becky Berg in 1990. They lived in California, North Attleboro, MA, Charlotte, NC, and in Grand Forks, ND.
On December 27, 2006, Craig married Darcy Tornell Peterson. They made their home in Briarwood, ND, where Craig owned and operated TSW, Inc., a semiconductor-engineering firm. Craig loved to fly and had his Commercial Pilots License in Airplane Single & Multiengine Land, Instrument Airplane, and Rotocraft-Helicopter. Craig was friendly, outgoing, and had a great sense of humor. Whatever Craig did, he completed to perfection.
Craig is survived by his wife and soulmate, Darcy, Briarwood; three children, Kaylee, Brittany and Riley Scheer, all Grand Forks; stepdaughter, Danielle Peterson, Briarwood; his parents, Elaine and William Scheer, rural Hawley; Darcy's parents, Donna and Glenn Tornell, Fargo; brothers, Brad (Peggy) Scheer, California, and Kirby (Denise) Scheer, Big Lake, MN; and Darcy's brothers, Adam (Stacy) Tornell, Barnesville, and Cliff (Jenny) Tornell, Fargo. Craig also has three nieces, and two nephews, Goddaughter, Kyla & Brynn Scheer, Maverick Tornell, Treyson & Andie Joe Tornell.
Visitation: Friday, 5 PM to 8 PM, with a prayer service at 7 PM, Korsmo Funeral Chapel, Moorhead.
Funeral: Saturday, May 12, 2012, at 10:30 AM, Bethel Evangelical Free Church, Fargo.
