Curtis E. Oberg, 88, Harwood, ND, formerly of Georgetown, MN, died Wednesday, November 17, 2021.
Curtis Eugene Oberg was born January 8, 1933, in Fargo, ND, to Martin and Alma (Nodsle) Oberg. He grew up in rural Georgetown, attending a one room country school. Curtis, along with eight of his neighbor friends, enlisted together in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. Curtis served his country from 1953 to 1955. Following his honorable discharge, Curtis returned home and continued farming.
On October 21, 1960, Curtis was united in marriage to Lois Lewis in Fargo. They resided on the family farm and welcomed two sons, Chip in 1966 and Dan in 1969. For over 50 years, Curtis and Lois worked side by side on the farm- farming was their life.
In Curtis' free time, he enjoyed trapping, hunting, and fishing. He especially enjoyed spear fishing. He loved taking his grandkids spearing and as time marched on, they took him spearing. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, teaching them about the finer things in life- a cold Mountain Dew on a hot day, chocolate chip cookies with ice cream, or perhaps a Hershey bar. Curtis was known for his unique one liners' that always left you with a chuckle. He enjoyed shooting pool with his grandkids, putting together puzzles, and playing checkers and marbles.
Curtis is survived by his two sons, Chip (Donna) Oberg, and Dan Oberg; grandchildren, Curtis "Buck" (Taylor) Oberg, Kelly Jo Oberg, Tyler Oberg, Andrew Oberg, and Jack Oberg; two great-grandchildren, Isaiah and Isla Oberg; and one sister, Vivian (Ted) McDougal, along with numerous brothers and sister's in-law, and many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife Lois (2019); siblings, Milton (Sylvia) Oberg and Fern (Robert) Morstad.
