Cyril K. Barnum

April 8, 1923 — July 14, 2008

On July 14th, Cyril Kenneth Barnum, 85, left this world to be with his Savior, Jesus. He was born on April 8th, 1923, in Miller, SD, the son of Albert & Martha (Zuehlsdorf). He was received into God's family through baptism along with his son, Jim, on July 27, 1947, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Campbell, MN, by Rev. Markgraf. He publicly reaffirmed his faith commitment to Jesus Christ in 1948 at First English Lutheran Church, Fairmont, ND, when he was confirmed by Pastor Rupert. He graduated from Campbell High School in 1940.
On June 14, 1946, he married Sybil Hardie at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Wahpeton, ND. Members of Our Redeemer since 1962, Cy served on the Board of Elders many times and loved to serve as usher.

Cy was best known for his kind, gentle heart and his love for his family. He was a man of simple needs who put himself last and his family first. He and the love of his life, Sybil, spent 62 years together and his primary concern was her happiness.
If "Popsey" could have a cup of coffee and his family near him, his world was complete.

Prior to his retirement in 1987, Cy was a truck driver for Consolidated Freight, Buckingham Trucking, and Midwest Motor Express. He was an accomplished musician and his sweet baritone voice will live forever in the hearts of his children, all of whom, he was proud to say, he taught to play guitar. His legacy is profound: love one another as Jesus loves us, speak no ill, and always put your Savior and family first.

Left to join him later through faith in our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ is his wife Sybil; three sons, Jim (Lynne) Moorhead, Lonny, Moorhead, and Jerry (Deb), West Fargo, ND; two daughters, Pam Keenan, Moorhead and Linda Carter, Chanhassen, MN; 13 grandc
Those family members he is joining in heaven are his parents; brothers, Mel & Miles; a granddaughter, Lisa Marie Barnum; a son, Stanley Richard; and a son-in-law, Steve Keenan.

Although we mourn our separation from our brother-in-Christ, we rejoice that his soul has been received into the everlasting glories of heaven. Please pray for Cy's family and friends who grieve.
