Dale E. Tommerdahl

Dale Edmond Tommerdahl was born November 17, 1947, in Ada, MN, to Edmond and Norma (Ford) Tommerdahl. He grew up in Hendrum, MN, where he graduated from high school. After graduation, he farmed in the Hendrum area and joined the National Guard.
On November 22, 1972, Dale married Vickie Ambuehl in Sisseton, SD. They made their home in rural Hendrum where Dale continued to farm. Dale and Vickie raised three children, Shane, Lauri, and Dani. In 1985, he retired from farming and he owned and managed Hendrum Oil until 1990. He then began driving semi-truck. They moved to Fargo, ND, in the fall of 1994.
Dale loved traveling and exploring new places with Vickie and their children. They enjoyed many trips, long and short, planned and spontaneous, traveling around the United States in their motor home. He loved spending time at the lake enjoying the outdoors and fishing.
Dale enjoyed music and was very musically talented. He could play many instruments by ear including organ, accordion, guitar, and banjo.
In 2005, Dale and Vickie began traveling full time in their RV. They made many temporary homes including Napa Valley, CA, Rapid City, SD, and Death Valley, CA.
Dale died unexpectedly on Saturday, May 22, 2010, at Lakeside Hospital, Omaha, NE, while visiting his daughter.
He is survived by his wife, Vickie; a son, Shane (Michele) Tommerdahl; two daughters, Lauri (Vyron) Morkassel and Dani Brandt and her special friend Jerry Swanda; six siblings, Shirley (Harold) Mueller, David (Marlys) Tommerdahl, Howard (Terry) Tommerdahl, Linda (Dennis) Borgen, LeeAnn (Alroy) Ambuehl, and Greg Tommerdahl; six grandchildren, Brayden, Landon, Elijah and Victoria Morkassel, and Madison and Nelson Brandt; three step-grandchildren, Nathan Nelson and Karina and Vyron Morkassel. He is also survived by his cherished dogs, Buster, Angel, Adrian, and Punky.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ed and Norma Tommerdahl, and his father and mother-in-law, Maynard and Jean Ambuehl.
