Dale Warren Nelson, age 75, of Moorhead, passed peacefully from leukemia among family on September 19, 2008. Dale was born in Mankato, Minnesota, to Jim and Dorothy (Muellerleile) Nelson on July 28, 1933.


He graduated from Mankato High School and Mankato State University where he participated and excelled in basketball and baseball. After receiving a degree from Mankato State University, he accepted a job with Retail Credit Company/Equifax, where he worked from 1958 until he retired in 1987.


Dale served in the U.S. Army from 1954 to 1957, assigned to duty stations at Ft. Leonardwood, MO; Fort Dix, NJ; Ft. Hood, TX; Ft. Polk, LA; Iceland; and Ft. Sheridan, IL.


Dale was a long time member of the Fargo Elks Club and and avid member of the YMCA where he worked out twice a day until the time of his illness. He also enjoyed golf, fishing, attending and supporting local athletic events, and working in his yard. Dale also served as a volunteer for Meals on Wheels for many years and was an ardent member of the MSUM Dragon Fire booster club.


He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Patricia Ann, of Moorhead; son Jay (Kristi) Nelson, of Fargo, ND; daughter Nanci Lynn Nelson, of St. Paul, MN; son Michael Thomas Nelson, of Deephaven, MN; daughter Ann (Dan) Kohler, of Grafton, ND; and daughter Kel
Grandchildren include Matthew Nelson of Fargo, ND; Stacie Nelson of Fargo, ND; Kasey James Gunderson, of Discovery Bay, CA; and Emery Ann Gunderson, of Discovery Bay, CA; and step grandchildren Jennifer Kohler, of Mesa, Arizona; and, Ryan Kohler of Grand
A Memorial Service will be held Tuesday, September 23, at 1 pm in Korsmo Funeral Chapel, Moorhead. A Visitation will be held at Korsmo Funeral Chapel two hours prior to the service.
