Daniel R. Daehlin, 78, of Moorhead, MN, passed away Wednesday, June 7, 2023, in Essentia Health, Fargo, ND.

It is with heavy hearts that we mourn the passing of Daniel Rolf Daehlin, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend. Daniel departed this world on June 7, 2023, leaving behind a void in our lives. While we grieve, we find comfort in the memories and the impact he made during his time with us.

Daniel was born on January 12, 1945, and throughout his life, he was a devoted family man. He treasured the moments spent with his loved ones. He loved his wife, Penny, was a "proud papa" of their children, Erik (Heidi) Daehlin and Allison (Matt) Coalwell, and took pride in his grandchildren (Lis, Josiah, Faith, Matthias, Micah, Aidan, and Addison) and great-grandchildren (Jonah and Jacob). Daniel instilled in his family the values of faith, hard work, and the importance of truth.

A devout follower of Christ, Daniel's life was a testament to his faith. He and Penny were active members of Calvary Lutheran Church of Golden Valley, MN, for over forty years. He led numerous Bible studies, guiding others on their spiritual journeys. His passion for serving extended beyond his community, as he went on mission trips to Haiti, Ecuador, and Estonia, where he shared the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Daniel also served on the board of WAPO Lutheran Bible Camp, a mission close to his heart, providing transformative experiences that allowed individuals to encounter the boundless love of our Savior.

Throughout his professional life, Daniel was a respected leader in the field of education for over three decades. In his leisure time, Daniel was an avid downhill skier, finding comfort and peace as he enjoyed the mountains with family. He also found joy in spending time on the water in the various boats he owned. A skilled craftsman, he dedicated himself to various projects, with building the family log cabin being a testament to his talent and dedication to his loved ones.

Daniel's memory will forever live on in the hearts of his wife, Penny; their children, Erik and Allison; and his cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren. His love, commitment to faith, and funny "George" moments will stay with us all.

Daniel was preceded in death by his parents, Rolf and Janet Daehlin; father and mother-in-law, Dean and Opal Cameron; and daughter-in-law, Heidi Daehlin.  

Daniel’s Celebration of Life will be 1:30 PM, Friday, July 14, 2023, in Korsmo Funeral and Cremation Service, Moorhead, with a Gathering of Family and Friends one hour prior to the Celebration.
