Daniel L. Dosland, 91, Halstad, MN, formerly of rural Perley, MN, died Saturday, December 14, 2019, at the Halstad Living Center.
Daniel, known to many as "Danny" was born July 28, 1928, in Fargo, ND, to Gjert and Bessie (Brodahl) Dosland. He attended school in rural Perley. Danny worked for area farmers until he was drafted during the Korean Conflict. He served with the United States Army overseas from 1952-1953. Following the war, he lived in California and was employed by Lockheed Martin. Danny moved back to rural Perley to start farming with a neighbor friend. He soon took over the family farm and continued his love for agriculture.
In March of 1976, Daniel was united in marriage to Rosella Geyer. They enjoyed traveling together and spending time with family and friends.
Danny loved the outdoors, which included: hunting, fishing, wood cutting, gardening, and restoring old tractors. He had a quiet and reserved personality and a heart of gold, always willing to help anyone in need. He enjoyed his two trips to Norway with his brother and sister-in-law.
Danny is survived by his step son; Ed (InSuk Lee) Zawistowski of Hendrum, MN; two granddaughters, Virginia Zawistowski (Jim Crants) and Stephanie Zawistowski (John Burton); three great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Jane Dosland of Springfield, IL; niece, Suzanne Meek (Steve Duval) of San Marcos, CA; nephew, Steffen (Jocelyn) Dosland of St. Charles, MO; and niece, Julie Dosland (Michael Kinsel) of Manhattan, IL. In addition, he is survived by several cousins, along with five great-nieces and nephews and four great-great-nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Rosella; one sister, Elizabeth "Betty" (William) Meek; one brother, John G. Dosland; and one niece, Deborah (Meek) Singer.
Funeral Service for Daniel will be held Saturday, December 21, 2019 at 11AM in Kirkebo Lutheran Church, Perley. Visitation will be held Friday, December 20, 2019 at Korsmo Funeral Chapel in Moorhead from 4PM-6PM. Visitation will also continue at the church one hour prior to the service. Interment will be held in Bethania Lutheran Cemetery in Perley.
