Darlene Larson

Darlene Larson, 70, of Moorhead, MN, died Saturday, April 8, 2017, in her home.

Darlene Meyer was born October 14, 1946, the daughter of Emil and Lillian (Schmidt) Meyer in Fargo, ND. She was raised in Moorhead and graduated from Moorhead High School. Upon graduation she attended Dakota Business College earning a degree in Bookkeeping. Darlene then went to work at Butler Machinery, working in accounts receivable.

On March 19, 1966, Darlene was united in marriage to Arvid Larson in Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Moorhead. While serving in the U.S. Navy, Arvid spent several months in the Mediterranean, and they then moved to South Carolina until returning to Moorhead in 1967. It was during this time they managed the Kent Apartments until purchasing their own home in north Moorhead in 1970. Over the years, Darlene spent most of her time volunteering. She was very active in the St. Ansgar Auxiliary, volunteering at the St. Ansgar Gift Shop for many years. She was also a very active member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church throughout the years.

Darlene enjoyed camping with her family and was always involved with her sons' activities while they were growing up. She especially loved spending time with her grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Arvid; sons, Darin (Teri) Larson, Moorhead and Eric (Kelli) Larson, West Fargo, ND; grandchildren, Jadon and Riley Larson and Ashlee and Cassie Larson; brother, Roger (Jan) Meyer, St. Cloud, MN; sister-in-law, Clarice (Robert) Softing, Rollag, MN; and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and brother, Richard.

A Visitation for Darlene will be Tuesday from 5 PM to 7 PM, with a 6:30 PM Prayer Service in Korsmo Funeral Chapel, Moorhead.

Her Funeral Service will be Wednesday, April 12, 2017, at 2 PM, in Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, Moorhead.

Burial will be in Moorhead Memorial Gardens, Moohread.
