Darlene Marion Radi, 86, of Fargo, ND, passed away on Thursday, November 28, 2019, at Sanford Hospital with her family by her side after her courageous second battle with cancer.
Darlene was raised by her grandmother in the small town of Fischer, MN, following the death of her mother. There, she graduated as valedictorian of her class. Darlene met Al Radi at a dance and they married July 5, 1952. They were blessed with twins, Larry and Lanae, on November 23, 1957. Just as their family grew, so did many of their cherished family traditions, such as camping trips, summer days at their cabin on Lake Ida, Minnesota Viking's and Twin's games, Christmases in Fischer, and a memorable trip to Mount Nemo, SD. After Al passed away in January 2003, Darlene continued to lead a life of faith in Jesus and love for others, carrying out new traditions of her own.
Darlene beat cancer in 2011 and quickly jumped back into her active lifestyle with contagious positivity and energy. Darlene loved the Lord. This was evident in the way she lived her life. She spent her time serving at the church information desk, volunteering for funeral groups, cooking meals at Dorothy Day House, enjoying mornings hosting circle, serving as secretary of the volunteer board at Sanford Hospital, playing bridge, spending quality time with her family, meeting up with her close friends for the traditional weekly dinner and a movie, all with genuine interest and love for everyone she met along the way.
You could count on Darlene for being up-to-date with everyone from her next door neighbor to her great-grandchildren, the Minnesota Twins lineup, the Vikings' record, Dancing with the Stars, Wheel of Fortune, and Jeopardy.
Darlene was an incredible mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, wife, sister, daughter and friend.
