David Francis Arnholt was born on January 26, 1945, to Francis and Anna (Brewer) Arnholt, in Florida. David grew up in Southern Indiana, graduating from high school in Columbus, IN, in 1963. He spent two years attending college before he joined the military. In 1965 David joined the United States Air Force. In the Air Force, David installed and repaired ejection seats in air crafts. He spent 20 years proudly serving his country. David met his wife, Mary, after moving to Fargo to teach the Air National Guard. David was an amateur HAM radio operator for over 60 years. He inherited his dad’s call number and became part of the 11 o’clock net, spending many nights on the radio talking to people from the Midwest region and the area. David also trained obedience and therapy dogs. He was a volunteer for Hospice of the Red River Valley for several years, bringing his dog, Coty, to offer comfort to those on hospice in their homes or in nursing homes and memory care facilities. David took great care training the dogs to ensure they were a good fit to offer comfort in that kind of environment. Throughout his years training dogs, he made many friends in the dog training community.
