David Kenneth Cusey, 68, Moorhead, MN, died on Friday, September 17, 2010, at his home in Moorhead.
David was born on August 7, 1942, in Perham, MN, to Kenneth and Irene (Lage) Cusey. He grew up and attended school in Detroit Lakes, MN where he graduated from high school in 1960.
He spent two years in the US Navy as a navigator on planes flying from Hawaii to Alaska,Philippines, and Japan. After returning home, he attended Moorhead State College (MSUM) where he graduated in 1968. During college, he worked at the Shoe Box. After graduation, he worked at International Harvester. He married Jane Larson in Detroit Lakes. In 1970, David started selling real estate with Wagner Realty in Moorhead. He married Becky (Jorgenson) Rix in 1977. In 1980, he and his wife, Becky, started CUSEY REAL ESTATE, INC, which he was active in until his death.
David was an Eagle Scout and was actively involved in Churches United for the Homeless, Vikingland Kiwanis, Spud Boosters, Our Savior's Lutheran Church Missions, and Bible Study. David was also involved with Habitat for Humanity, Moorhead Athletic Association, and Western Minnesota Steam Threshers Reunion, working at the gas station.
He is survived by his wife, Becky Cusey, Moorhead; children, Brad (Michelle) Cusey, Moorhead, Richard (Heather) Rix, Moorhead, and Carrie (John) Olson, Moorhead; sister, Kareen (Bob) Pfeifer, Park Rapids MN; seven grandchildren, Blake and Paige Olson, Claire, Candace, and Courtney Rix, and Tanner and Carter Cusey. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Verna Ray Toomey; and a brother-in-law George Harer.
VISTATION: Monday, September 20, 2010, from 4 - 7 PM, with a prayer service at 7 PM, in Our Savior's Lutheran Church, 610 - 13th St. N., Moorhead
FUNERAL: Tuesday, September 21 2010, at 2 PM, in Our Savior's Lutheran Church.
