David H. Johnson

David Herman Johnson, one of twelve children born to Frank and Martha (Leebeck) Johnson, was born May 18, 1921, on the family farm south of Moorhead, MN, where he grew up. He went to rural school and to the campus school, at Moorhead State Teacher's College, where he graduated from high school.

On Jun 5, 1940, David married Bernice A. Wilkinson. They first lived on the family farm south of Moorhead. They later moved to a farm south of Fargo, ND, where they farmed until retiring in 1979. In addition to farming, David also worked as a roofer for local homes. David truly enjoyed the time spent at the family lake home on Cormorant Lake, south of Lake Park, MN.

In 1999, the couple moved into Sabin, MN, where they had lived since. His wife, Bernice, died on Oct. 7, 2002. David continued to live in Sabin, until his death on Friday, June 8, 2018, under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley, at the age of 97.

David is survived by his five children, Donna Gravalin of Moorhead, Diane (DeLair) Weller of Gwinner, ND, Deborah (Steven) Murphy of Las Vegas, NV, Mary Sue Johnson of Moorhead, and Frank Johnson of Sabin; 15 grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Bernice; his parents; and by his eleven sisters and brothers.

A Celebration of David's Life will be Wednesday, June 13, 2018, at 11:00 AM, in Korsmo Funeral Chapel, Moorhead, MN.
