David K. Neil

David K. Neil, 52, Moorhead, MN, passed peacefully Tuesday, March 5, 2024, at his residence and under the care of Hospice.  

David Kenneth Neil was born July 3, 1971, in Grand Forks, ND. He grew up in Moorhead, graduating from Moorhead High School in 1989.  After high school, David worked in carpentry, and continued in this field throughout his life.  His ability to artistically create anything he imagined, shone through in all that he touched.  From designing and building dining room tables, kitchen countertops, chess boards and picture frames, David mastered his talent, building most items out of Corian.   

David’s green thumb was evident every spring and summer. He would turn his parents’ backyard into their very own conservatory.   He was meticulous about how each flower was arranged and family would often tease him because of the vast amount of watering cans he collected.   He also enjoyed collecting records, clocks, books, vases, tools, posters, and quotes.   

David had a passion for music too.  He attended well over 100 concerts and collected many albums and 45’s to replay on his dad’s old stereo system.   Family meant the world to David, especially his nieces and nephews, Mariah, Katie, Kaleigh, Jimmy, Tyler, Kris and Matt.  His close relationship was evident through all the music, dances and conversations shared.  David had his struggles, as many do, but his love for his family never faltered.  His mom was always his constant friend and supporter, just as David supported all of us.  

He will be remembered and missed by his mother, Margaret “Marge” Erickson of Moorhead; his brothers, James from Menomonie, WI, Ben of Fargo; sister, Jenni (Dean Alexander) of Ada, MN; nieces, Kaleigh (Matt) Klevgaard of Felton, MN, Katie of Ada, MN; nephew, Jimmy of Ada, MN; grand-niece, Mariah; and grand-nephews, Tyler and Kris.  

He was preceded in death by his father, James Erickson; one brother, Danny Neil; and nephew, Timmy Lee.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt Thank You to Hospice of the Red River Valley, especially Krista, Corey, and Erica for the wonderful care and support given to David during his final days.
