David R. Reed

David R. Reed, 82, of Moorhead, MN, died on Sunday, November 5, 2017, in Rosewood on Broadway, Fargo, ND, from complications of Parkinson's Disease.

David was born in Willmar, MN, on June 13, 1935, to Mark and Mildred (Westerberg) Reed. He grew up on the family farm near Raymond, MN. After graduating from Raymond High School, Dave worked for Mobil Oil Company and later for O'Day Oil Equipment in Fargo where he retired as Executive Vice President.

In 1956, Dave married Lorraine Kruize in Donnelly, MN, after meeting on a blind date. The couple lived in Willmar and Brainerd, MN, before moving to Moorhead. Dave was an active member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church and Moorhead Kiwanis. Dave loved camping with his family and then transitioned to lake cabin life on Lake Bejou. The family then moved to Big Cormorant Lake until 2011 and were involved in Cormorant Lutheran Church and Cormorant Lions. They later moved to Lake Ethel near Ottertail Lake. Dave loved tinkering, fixing almost anything, catching up on American history, and spending time with his family and friends at the lakes.

Survivors include his wife, Lorraine; children, Scott (Sandi) Reed, Fargo, Mark (Vicky) Reed, Eagan, MN, Blake (Michelle) Reed, Jamestown, ND, and Cindy (Steve) Wentzel, Dallas, TX; 12 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

Dave was preceded in death by his parents, and brothers, Philip and Sydney.

A Gathering of Friends for David will be one hour prior to his funeral service.

His Memorial Service will be Thursday, November 9, 2017, at 1 PM, in The Lutheran Church of Christ The King, Moorhead.

Interment will be in Cormorant Lutheran Cemetery, rural Lake Park, MN.
