Dean Hugh Bagne was born September 9, 1926, to Oscar and Matilda (Skime) Bagne, in Gonvick, MN. Dean was baptized in October of 1926, in Gonvick, and confirmed in faith in May of 1940, at Grace Lutheran Church, in Erskine, MN.
Dean graduated from Erskine High School in 1943, where he excelled in basketball and track and field. Dean joined the US Navy in 1944, and served as a hospital corpsman, until he was honorably discharged in July of 1946. He then attended the University of Minnesota, Minneapolis.
Dean was united in marriage to Uldine Jean Horeni, on November 23, 1949, in Brookfield, IL. They lived in Erskine, Alexandria, Moorhead, Detroit Lakes, and Pelican Rapids, MN, before moving to Fargo, ND. They recently made their home at Riverview Place in south Fargo.
In his earlier years, Dean worked at his father's butcher shop in Erskine. He later worked as a salesman for Monarch Foods, Vernon Company, and F-M Advertising before starting his own specialty-advertising agency, Bagco, in 1966. Dean loved people and enjoyed his work. He retired in 1990, but kept active in the business.
Dean loved his family dearly and enjoyed every minute he had to spend with them. He loved the lakes, fishing, bird watching and traveling. Dean was a forgiving, kind and loving man to his family and friends. Dean belonged to Toastmasters, Rotary, Min-Dak Manufacturing, Ad Club and El Zagal Shrine. He enjoyed playing in the Shrine Band and singing in the church choir.
Dean died Saturday, October 17, 2009, in Innovis Health, Fargo, at eighty-three years of age.
Dean is survived by his loving wife, Uldine; his son, Craig (Diane) Bagne; his daughter, Alexis (Paul) Paxton; three grandsons, Shawn (Amanda) Bagne, Troy (Angela) Bagne and Chuck Paxton; four great-grandchildren, Sophia, Clara, Ella and William Bagne; and two brothers, Roy (Grace) Bagne and Roger (Idelle) Bagne.
Dean was preceded in death by his parents, Oscar and Matilda; a brother, Paul Bagne; and his in-laws, James and Hilda Horeni.
Visitation for Dean will be Tuesday, October 20, 2009, from 5 - 7 PM, in Korsmo Funeral Chapel, Moorhead.
His funeral will be Wednesday, October 21, 2009, at 1 PM, in St. John Lutheran Church, Fargo.
