Delbert Henry Reitmeier was born April 30, 1923, to William and Anna (Wentzel) Reitmeier, in Crookston, MN, where he was raised and attended school.
Delbert entered the US Army on January 1, 1945 and served in the Philippines and Korea. After his discharge on December 8, 1946, he returned to Crookston. Delbert married Dulice Casavan on February 21, 1949, in Crookston.
They moved to Saginaw, MI, where he worked for General Motors and later for Bay Engineering Tool and Die. They moved to Moorhead, MN, in 1958. Delbert worked as a barber for eighteen years, in Fargo, and then worked for Moorhead State University. He retired from MSU after fourteen years of service.
Delbert died Friday, April 19, 2013, at Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Fargo, at eighty-nine years of age.
Delbert is survived by his wife, Dulice, Moorhead; two daughters, Deborah (Don) Hersrud, and Karen (Darryl) Hersrud, both Moorhead; five grandchildren, Michael (Polie Campiteli) Hersrud, Scott (Sally) Hersrud, Curtis (fiancée, Karen Miska) Reitmeier, Kevin (Crystal) Reitmeier, and Stacy (fiancé, Brandon Hjermstad) Hersrud; and three great-grandchildren, Miles, Leo and Edwin Hersrud.
Delbert was preceded in death by his son, Rodney and his wife, Anne; his parents; and ten brothers and sisters.
Visitation: Sunday, April 21, 2013, from 4 - 6 PM, with a prayer service at 6 PM, in Korsmo Funeral Chapel, Moorhead.
Funeral: Monday, April 22, 2013, at 10:30 AM, in Korsmo Funeral Chapel.
Burial: Monday at 2:30 PM, with full military honors, in Oakdale Cemetery, Crookston, MN.
