Delores Gunderson Knutson, 88, Moorhead, MN, died Thursday, October 25, 2007, in MeritCare Hospital, Fargo, ND.
Delores Gunderson was born in Mahnomen, MN, on May 20, 1919, to George and Alma (Herfindahl) Gunderson. She was raised and educated in the Erhard and Pelican Rapids, MN area, graduating from Pelican Rapids High School in 1937. She received an Associate Degree in business from Jamestown (ND) College.
Delores worked at the courthouse in Fergus Falls, MN, until moving to Fargo where she worked as a clerk/typist with the Department of Officers Candidate School. At the onset of WWII, she was transferred to the State Selective Service Office in St. Paul, MN.
On December 16, 1944, Delores married Albert Knutson in Erhard and they made their home in Cleveland, OH, until Albert's discharge from the military in 1945. They then moved to Moorhead. During their retirement, they enjoyed spending time at their West McDonald Lake home and traveling. Delores volunteered at MeritCare and she loved to fish. She also was an active member of the Elizabeth Circle at The Lutheran Church of Christ the King, Moorhead.
Albert died on June 21, 2006, and Delores continued to make her home in Moorhead.
She is lovingly survived by a son, George (Laura) Knutson, Renton, WA; four daughters, Beverley (David) Sorgen, Fargo, Dianne Knutson, Fargo, and Mary and Marlene Knutson, both of Moorhead; four grandchildren, Patricia (Chris) Adams, Michael Grove, Carson
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Ethel Gunderson Eshom, and a niece, Virginia Eshom Bezenek.
Memorials preferred to The Lutheran Church of Christ the King or the MeritCare Roger Maris Cancer Center.
Visitation: Tuesday from 5 - 7 PM in Korsmo Funeral Chapel, Moorhead with the Funeral Service on Wednesday, October 31, 2007, at 11 AM in The Lutheran Church of Christ the King, Moorhead.
Burial: Moorhead Memorial Gardens, Moorhead.
