Delores was born June 17, 1938, to Harry Langfeldt and Gwyneth Wolverton Butze Langfeldt in Bemidji, MN. As a child, she moved to Moorhead, MN, with her parents, where she remained the rest of her life. After high school, she met the love of her life, while working at St. John's Hospital. It was a whirlwind romance, they met in March, got engaged in April and married in May. She married Carl William Roder on May 28, 1960. It was not long until they had four children to raise. She was not just a homemaker, but a true domestic engineer. She could whip up a costume or special treat at a moments notice, without blinking an eye. She loved doing crafts and painting. Christmas was her favorite holiday and collected Santas. Her talent for gift wrapping was amazing- the gifts looked to good to be opened. Delores was committed to keeping the family story alive through her creative family reunions. She traveled hundreds of miles with Carl, to study the family genealogy. She also encouraged her family to attend family reunions. Delores was an avid cook and keeper of recipes. Her German potato salad recipe, among others, was the best.
Delores died unexpectedly in her home in Moorhead on Thursday, February 7, 2008. She was 69. She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Marvin Butze and Elmer Butze; and an infant sister, Pearl.
She is survived by her husband, Carl, Moorhead; four children, Jennifer Gwyn McLain and her husband, Mark, of Fort Collins, CO, William "Bill" Roder, and his wife, Tami, of Moorhead, Robert "Bob" Roder, and his wife, Sherie, of Excelsior Springs, MO, and Julie Roder, Rochester, MN; a sister, Estelle Lee; four grandchildren, Michael and Sara McLain and Carlos and Javier Roder; and numerous nephews and nieces.
