Delores May Perkins was born January 11, 1931, in Gladstone, MN, to Fred and Nina (Quam) Perkins. When Delores was very young, the family moved to the Hawley, MN, area. Delores attended District 5 country school at Muskoda, MN, and later graduated from Hawley High School. She attended technical school at Detroit Lakes, MN, for a short time.
Delores was married to Loren Helling, at Fargo, ND, and they made their home in Moorhead, MN. They owned and operated their own home remodeling business and Delores handled the bookkeeping.
Over the years, Delores lived in a number of care facilities where she could witness her faith in Jesus Christ to the other residents. These included Ulen, Halstad, and Ada, MN. She became a resident at Bethany Cares, Fargo, in March of 2006, where she went to be with her Lord on Friday, November 14, 2008, at seventy-seven years of age.
Delores enjoyed spending time in prayer, reading her Bible, and sharing her faith with friends, residents and caregivers.
Delores is survived by her brothers and sisters, William (Delores) Perkins, Wichita, KS, Kenneth (Marge) Perkins, Glyndon, June Jurick, Cleveland, OH, Donna Chloupek, Dilworth, MN, Daryl (Bob) Liljequist, Dilworth, Betty Hill, Dilworth, and Jan Lee, Fargo.
The funeral for Delores will be Wednesday, November 19, 2008, at 1 PM, in First Assembly Church, Fargo.
Visitation will be at the church one hour prior to the funeral.
Burial will take place in Hawley Cemetery.
