Delores Palowski

Delores L. Palowski, 91, Moorhead, MN, passed away Monday, December 7, 2015, at Ecumen Evergeens, Moorhead.
Delores Louise Fischbach was born on November 13, 1924, the youngest of five children, to Peter and Irene (Gabris) Fischbach in St. Paul, MN. She was baptized into the Catholic faith on Feb. 15, 1925, at the Church of St. Louis, King of France, St. Paul. She grew up and was educated in the St. Paul area, starting her education at Prosperity Heights and ending with secretarial school.
She met her future husband, Zygmunt, while he was in naval machinist training at the University of Minnesota. They were married in St. Paul at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church on August 3, 1946.
After living in Vermont and California, they returned to the Twin Cities where they raised their two children until moving to Moorhead in 1964.
Delores' work career included, among others, 3M and C&F Machinery in the Twin Cities. After moving to Moorhead, she was instrumental in setting up the parts department at Atlas Products, was City Desk at Fargo Paper Co. and office manager/sales at Butler Paper Company, from which she retired in the early 1980s.
After retirement, Delores and husband, Zyg, spent summers traveling in their 5th wheeler, or on Spirit Lake and winters at their vacation home in Melbourne, FL.
Delores was a member of the VFW Auxiliary, very active in Catholic Daughters, Red Hats Club and St. Joseph Catholic Church. She league bowled for many years, enjoyed fishing and loved to watch the deer romp along the bank of the Red River while sipping her morning coffee. Among her many artistic talents were knitting, crocheting, hand quilting and numerous craft projects. She loved basket weaving and attended the Fletcher Farm School for the Arts & Crafts in Ludlow, VT.
Delores is survived by a daughter, Nannette (Dennis) Bakko, Walcott ND; a son, Dennis (Diane) Palowski, Fargo, ND; four grandchildren, Shaina (Nathan) Austin, New Hope, MN, Jared Bakko, Fargo, Chad (Sara) Palowski, Grand Forks, ND, and Adam Palowski, Baxter, MN; a sister, Beatrice Bunnell, Reno, NV; and her beloved Shih Tzu, Tippy.
Delores was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Zygmunt Palowski; brother, Leonard Fischbach; and sisters, Lorraine Dvorak and Marcella Crawley.
A memorial mass will be held for Delores in St. Joseph Catholic Church, Moorhead, on Monday, December 14, 2015, at 10 AM. Inurnment will be in Riverside Cemetery, Fargo.
God has answered her prayers to be with her devoted husband this Christmas enjoying an afternoon game of farkle.
