Delorice E. Thiel, 87, of Fargo, ND, died Sunday, May 4, 2014, in Essentia Health in Fargo.
Delorice Elaine Johnson was born February 10, 1927, the daughter of Oscar and Martha (Carlson) Johnson in Warren, MN. She was raised on a farm north of Warren where she attended country school before attending Warren High School. She moved to Grand Forks, ND, where she worked at Herberger's and picked potatoes during the fall harvest.
On January 1, 1949, she was united in marriage to Russel W. Thiel in East Grand Forks, MN. They established their home in East Grand Forks. Over the years, Russel and Delorice lived in various places while he served as a plant manager for American Crystal Sugar. In 1982, they settled in Bemidji, MN, where they made their home until moving to Fargo in 1998. Russel died on October 31, 2007, and Delorice continued to make her home in Fargo.
Delorice enjoyed working in her flower gardens, doing embroidery, and traveling.
She is survived by her children, Gary (Cindy) Thiel, Washburn, ND, Linda Ritter, Fargo, David (Linda) Thiel, Bovey, MN, Kevin (Julie) Thiel, Alexandria, MN, and Bruce (Fay) Thiel, Waynesville, OH; eleven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Russel; and granddaughter, Amanda.
Visitation: One hour prior to memorial service. Memorial Service: Friday, May 9, 2014, at 2:00 PM, in Korsmo Funeral Chapel in Moorhead. Interment: Riverside Cemetery, Fargo.
