Dennis D. Porter

Dennis Duaine Porter was born August 26, 1938, to Clifford and Antoinette 'Annette' (Lehman) Porter, in Traverse County, MN. Dennis married Joan Schauff October 2, 1959, in Moorhead, MN, and they made their home in Fargo, ND, and Moorhead.

Dennis worked for the City of Moorhead sanitation department for over forty years, retiring in April 2012. He also worked as a mechanic for Jerry's Service and Brady's Service Stations for many years.

Dennis was happiest when he was working and around people. He would never hesitate to help others. He enjoyed visiting, joking, teasing his grandchildren, and he had a fondness for his dog, Marley.

Dennis passed away Monday, September 14, 2015, at Sanford Palliative Care Unit, Fargo, at seventy-seven years of age.

He is survived by his wife, Joan; children, Mary (Dave) Katz, Salt Lake City, UT, Denny (Stacy), Hudson, WI, Roger (Kairouan), Warren, MN, Robert (Rhonda), Moorhead, Dan (Tony), Maplewood, MN, and Barbie Porter, Frazee, MN; fifteen grandchildren; one great-grandchild; siblings, Loyse Porter, Robert Porter, and Roxanne (Roy) Haskins.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Marlene Wrolson; and brothers, Eugene, Roland and Clifford.

There will be a gathering of friends Thursday, September 17, 2015, from 5 - 7 PM, with a sharing of memories at 6:30 PM, in Korsmo Funeral Chapel, Moorhead.

His Celebration service will be at 11 AM, Friday, September 18, 2015, at St. Gall's Catholic Church, Tintah, MN.

Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
