Dolores Arlene Wengeler, age 83, died peacefully at Bethany Towers, Fargo, ND, on Monday, January 24, 2005.
Dolores was born September 21, 1921, the daughter of Perry and Annette (Mickelson) Froseth, in Thief River Falls, MN, where she graduated from Lincoln High School and lived for most of her life.
Shortly after high school, Dolores started work at Northwestern Bell Telephone Company. She married Raymond Wengeler July 21, 1945, in Thief River Falls. Ray soon achieved his dream of buying a farm northwest of town. While keeping his position at Thief River Co-op Creamery, Ray and Dolores both worked on the farm, providing their children with an ideal environment for their young lives. When their children had reached school age, they moved back into town, to the Wengeler house which had already been home to three generations of the family. Raymond died May 2, 1972. Dolores returned to work at Northwestern Bell, retiring in 1984.
Dolores expressed her artistic talent in decorating the family home on Markley Avenue, designing and sewing beautiful clothes for her children, preparing memorable meals and holiday celebrations. She loved children, music and animals. In her later years, she worked crossword puzzles and carefully tended several bird feeders in her yard, accompanied by her beloved dog, Buddy. She had recently moved into assisted living at Bethany Towers, where she enjoyed playing bingo and visiting with staff and residents.
Dolores was preceded in death by her husband, her parents and her brother, Loyal Froseth.
Survivors include her four children, Barbara Nusz, Grapevine, TX, Katherine (Craig) Olson, Moorhead, MN, John (Rhoda) Wengeler, Thief River Falls, MN, and Joseph Wengeler, White Bear Lake, MN; two brothers, Perry (Arlene) Froseth, Portland, OR, and Gordon Froseth, Sauk Center, MN; five grandchildren and nine great- grandchildren.
In accordance with her wishes, in lieu of a funeral service, a celebration of her life will be held at a later date.
