Dolores Alsleben

It is with both sadness and joy that we tell you, Dolores Alsleben, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 28, 2023.

With sadness, as she will be dearly missed; with joy, because she lived a good life on this earth and has now gone to her Heavenly home.

Dolores was born May 26, 1925, to Emil and Elsie (Kohls) Albrecht in Brownton, MN.  They moved to New Auburn, MN, in the late 1930’s.  That is where she met her future husband, Herbert Alsleben.

On October 1, 1948, Herb and Dolores were united in marriage.  They moved to Moorhead, MN in the early 1950’s and it was there they raised three daughters.  During the their time in Moorhead, Dolores worked from home as a seamstress and in 1970, she went to work as a cook for Moorhead Public Schools until her retirement in 1987.  In 1988, Herb and Dolores retired to Hot Springs, AR.  Herb passed away on July 21, 2002.  In 2003, Dolores moved to Pinellas Park, FL, to be in a warmer climate and near family.  She resided in Florida until the time of death. 

Dolores was an excellent seamstress, sewing cloths for her daughters (matching dresses!) and also creatin beautiful clothes for many loyal customers; she loved to crochet, making afghans and baby blankets for her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren; she was also an avid reader and LOVED to shop!

Dolores is survived by her daughters, Margo (Ron) Rowland, Wahpeton, ND, and their children, Andrew, Kitri, Alex (Amanda); Debra (Larry) Weigel, Sarasota, FL, and their children, Christopher, Garret (Lauren), Jason (Amanda); son-in-law, Curt Knutson, Page, ND, and children, Erik (Jessica), Brent (Jess), Kyle (Lyndsey);  17 great-grandchildren; and two sisters-in-law.

Dolores was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Herbert; her daughter, Tamara; two sisters, Evelyn Alsleben and Burnetta Senske; and four brothers-in-law.

A private family service will be held at a later date.  Dolores will be buried next to her husband at Moorhead Memorial Gardens, Moorhead, MN.
