Dolores Seaberg

Dolores Serene Ekern was born February 1, 1915, to John and Alma (Hanson) Ekern, in Detroit Lakes, MN. Dolores was raised in Detroit Lakes where she graduated from high school. Dolores graduated from Concordia College, Moorhead, MN, in 1937 with degrees in English and History.
Dolores was united in marriage to Norris Seaberg on April 24, 1937, in Detroit Lakes, where they made their home. They moved to Moorhead in 1943. Norris preceded Dolores in death on July 11, 1981, and she continued to reside in Moorhead.
Dolores moved to Eventide Catered Living, Moorhead, in September of 2004. In December of 2009, she entered Eventide Lutheran Home where she died Wednesday, January 13, 2010, at ninety-four years of age. She was an active resident of Eventide, where bingo was her favorite activity.
In her earlier years, Dolores was quite a swimmer. She swam across Detroit Lake a number of times with her brother close by in his boat. She enjoyed sports of all kinds and was an avid Twins and Vikings fan. She was an excellent golfer and won several championships at the Moorhead Country Club. In her later years, she enjoyed bowling and card games, especially Whist.
Dolores was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Moorhead, since 1944. She taught Sunday school, Bible School and was active in the Ladies Circle Group.
Dolores is lovingly survived by her son, Jon (Vicky) Seaberg, Cando, ND; her daughter, Barbara (Jeff) Buth, Moorhead; four grandsons, Eric, Derek, Brett and Bart; and seven great-grandchildren, Abbie, Sabrina, Harrison, Brooke, Cainan, Madison and Trab.
In addition to her husband, Dolores was preceded in death by a brother, Julian Ekern; and a sister Barbara Otterson.
Visitation for Dolores will be Friday, January 15, 2010, from 5 - 7 PM, in Korsmo Funeral Chapel, Moorhead.
Her funeral will be Saturday, January 16, 2010, at 2 PM, in Bottolfson Chapel, Eventide Lutheran Home, Moorhead.
Burial will follow in Moorhead Memorial Gardens.
