Dominic G. McNellis

Dominic G. McNellis, 45, of Moorhead, MN, passed away on Friday, January 20, 2023, in his home.

Dominic Gerald McNellis was born on September 20, 1977, to Gerald and Rose (Gibson) McNellis, in Glasgow, Scotland. He completed school in Glasgow and lived in Scotland until 2001. In 2001 Dominic was introduced to Laura Smith, by a mutual friend. They got to know each other online, and within six months, Dominic asked Laura to marry him. She was quickly on a plane to Scotland and on March 31, 2001, they were united in marriage, in Greenock, Scotland. Together the two moved back and forth between the US and the UK before settling in Moorhead, MN. They raised three children, and he cared for all of them immensely.

Despite Dominic’s tall stature and almost intimidating appearance, he was a quiet and shy guy. He loved his family and friends. He enjoyed riling up the pets and was a bit of an instigator. He loved to tease and get his sisters and family worked up over various things. The one thing he took seriously in life was football. As a guy from Scotland, he was a lifelong Celtic football fan. He collected Celtic memorabilia and always watched their games.

Dominic is survived by his wife, Laura; children, Larry Smith-Redman, Sammantha Redman, and Abigail McNellis; mother, Rose; siblings; Claire (Daniel) Murdock, Janine Arckley, Leighanne McNellis, Jordan McNellis, and Gemma McNellis; and his cat, Loki. He was preceded in death by his father, Gerald.

A family service will be held at a later date in Port Glasgow Cemetery, Glasgow, Scotland.
