Donald Jensen

Donald M. Jensen, 93, of Moorhead, MN, died on Tuesday, January 9, 2018, in the VA Medical Center, Fargo, ND.

Donald Maynard Jensen was born December 9, 1924, in Rothsay, MN, to John and Katie (Shea) Jensen. He was a graduate of Rothsay High School in 1942; then traveled to California to work in an Oakland shipyard after the outbreak of WWII. When he turned 18, he enlisted with the Army Air Corps and entered service in February of 1943 serving in England, Ireland, France, and Germany. During his time in the service he corresponded with his brother's wife's first cousin, Audrey Eid.

After his discharge in 1945, Don and Audrey continued to date upon his return home and they were married on February 1, 1947. Don went to work for Reinhard Brothers, an appliance store in Fargo. He then joined the United States Postal Service in 1963 where he retired after 24 years in 1987. They have continued to make their home in Moorhead through the years.

Don enjoyed sports, and played baseball and fastpitch softball into his 50s. He loved to fish, making extended trips to Canada and Lake Superior. His favorite was trolling at night for walleye and pike in local area lakes.

Don is survived by his wife of 70 years, Audrey; two children, Donald D. (Francesca) Jensen, La Grange, KY, and Diane M. (Ron) Roscoe, Moorhead; four grandchildren, Cassandra Foley, Portland, OR, Shawn Jensen, Vancouver, WA, Dustynn (Billie) Quiggle, Bismarck, ND, and Lynsey Roscoe, Moorhead; stepgrandchildren, Staci (Aleksander) Perkins-Surla, London, England; and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Sally Weiss; and brothers, Floyd, Sylvan and Kilford Jensen.

A Visitation for Donald will be one hour prior to his funeral service.

His Funeral Service will be Monday, January 15, 2018, at 2:00 PM, in Korsmo Funeral Chapel, Moorhead.
