Donald Knickerbocker

Donald Cushing Knickerbocker of Fargo, ND, formerly of Cortland, NY, passed away peacefully on April 19, 2016, at Riverview Place in Fargo, ND. He was 86.

Don was born in Cincinnatus, NY, on April 14, 1930, to the late Edwin and Helen (Murray) Knickerbocker and grew up on the family dairy farm. Don graduated from Cincinnatus High School, Duke University, and Duke University School of Law. He married Marilyn Ruth Parks in 1955. Don worked as an attorney in Virginia, Georgia, Minnesota, and Texas. While living in Minnesota, Donald and Ruth were charter members of Trinity Presbyterian Church in Woodbury, MN. After retiring in 1986, Don and Ruth moved to Cortland, where Don enjoyed playing with his grandchildren, reading history books, walking, gardening, debating politics, visiting Knickerbocker Country Club, and cheering for Duke Basketball.

Don leaves behind his loving wife, Marilyn Ruth (Parks) Knickerbocker; three children, Holly (Mark) Jensen of Fargo, Bryan (Lori) Knickerbocker of Garnet Valley, PA, Lawrence (Linda Clark) Knickerbocker of Bloomington, MN; six grandchildren, Ryan Jensen, Kevin Knickerbocker, Courtney Knickerbocker, Trevor Knickerbocker, Andrew Knickerbocker and Thomas Knickerbocker; and one brother, Francis (Ann) Knickerbocker of South Otselic, NY.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Richard, Malcolm, and Henry Knickerbocker; and one sister, Jeanne Knickerbocker Wight.

Visitation will be held at Riverview Place Chapel in Fargo on Monday, April 25, 2016 at 10:30 a.m., followed by a funeral service at 11 a.m. Burial will be private.
