Donald L. Moll

Donald L. Moll, 85, of Moorhead, MN, passed away peacefully Wednesday, July 30, 2014, in ManorCare in Fargo surrounded by his family.

Donald was born in Barnesville, MN, to Adolph and Ida (Marwitz) Moll on January 3, 1929. Donald spent his first twenty years there, growing up working on the family farm. He married Eula Ellen Holland on June 18, 1947, making their home in a modest house in Barnesville, where their first two children were born. He worked for the Kost Bros brick-making plant in Downer, MN. They moved to Moorhead, where he worked driving truck and then as a salesman for Acme Welding Supply of Fargo.

They raised their seven children while in Moorhead, spending much time at the cabin he'd built on Lake Ida. Donald spent many happy times with his family as they were growing up and he could be found almost every weekend tirelessly working on the cabin, fishing, or pulling the kids, grandkids and friends around the lake skiing. He would never complain when repeatedly untangling fishing lines. Donald was also a hunter and he enjoyed snowmobiling with the kids.

He later took the grandkids camping to Medora, ND, so they could experience the outdoors. Donald and Eula were avid dancers and enjoyed square dancing, ballroom dancing, and any kind where music was playing. Whenever there was music, they would be out on the dance floor. They moved to Bismarck, ND, where he continued working for then Praxair until his retirement. Upon retiring, Don and Eula made their home in Moorhead, and also had a lake home on Star Lake for the summers. They made a winter home in Mission, TX, enjoying the great weather and meeting many lifelong friends.

He is survived by his children, Lawrence Moll, Fargo, Linda (Gene) Walker, Glyndon, MN, Julie (John) Opgrand, Davenport, ND, Laura Knight, Port Orchard, WA, Rebecca (Larry) Barbee, Baker, MN, Greg (Pam) Moll, Moorhead, Darin (Mary Vargo) Moll, Dilworth, MN, and Lynn (Randy) Rolstad, West Fargo, ND; twenty grandchildren; twenty-seven great-grandchildren; a brother, Wayne (Donna) Moll, Moorhead; sisters, Marcella "Margie" Halvorson, Horace, ND, Barbara (Bob) Wegscheid, North Mankato, MN, and Elaine Nosal, Bloomer, WI; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Eula; infant grandson, John Opgrand; and brother, Floyd Moll.

A gathering of friends for Donald will be Monday, April 4, 2014, from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM, with a prayer service at 7:00 PM, in Korsmo Funeral Chapel, Moorhead.

His memorial service will be Tuesday, August 5, 2014, at 11:00 AM in Assumption Catholic Church, Barnesville.
