Donald Lindgren, age 84, of Fargo, ND, died Tuesday, Feb. 14, 2006, at ManorCare Health Services in Fargo.
Donald B. Lindgren, the son of David and Beda (Wickstrom) Lindgren was born in Wolverton, MN, on December 9, 1921. He grew up and received his education in Wolverton, where he graduated from high school in 1940.
During World War II, Donald served his country in the US Army Air Corp. He served overseas with the 20th Bomber Command in China, Burma and in India.
While he was in the service, Donald was united in marriage to Jane Erickson on September 1, 1943, at Oklahoma City, OK.
After his discharge in 1945, the family made their home in Wolverton, where Donald worked for the US Postal Service, first as a clerk and later as a rural mail carrier. He retired in 1976, after 32 years. In 2005, Donald and Jane moved to Fargo to live.
Donald raised and raced homing pigeons. He once won the Minnesota State Championship in racing. He was an avid walleye fisherman. The family enjoyed many wonderful trips in their travel trailer. Donald especially enjoyed the western US and Glacier National Park. Donald and Jane wintered in Florida, Arizona and in Texas.
Donald is survived by his wife, Jane, Fargo; a son, Ronald (Aquilina) Lindgren, Layton, Utah; two daughters, Nancy (Lon) Likness, Moorhead, MN, and Lori (Larry) Hanson, Fargo; four grandchildren, Stacey (Steven) Belka, Jeremy (Kimberlie) Likness, Jeff (Denise Brady) Hanson, and Chelsey (Chris Bachmeier) Hanson; and three great-grandchildren, Maddison Hanson, Hunter Hanson, and Chase Bachmeier. Donald was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers.
Visitation: one hour prior to the funeral, at the church.
Funeral service: Saturday, Feb. 18, 2006, at 2 PM in First Lutheran Church, Fargo, North Dakota.
Burial: Salem Lutheran Cemetery, Wolverton, MN.
