Donald A. Pederson

Donald A. Pederson, 83, Moorhead, MN, passed away Wednesday, April 10, 2024 at his home.

Donald Allen Pederson was born April 6, 1941, in Devils Lake, ND, to Henry and Ella (Berg) Pederson.  Don was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. He began his elementary education in Devils Lake. He moved with his family to Plummer, MN, where he graduated from high school.   Following high school in 1959, Don enlisted with the United States Army and proudly served his country until his honorable discharged in 1965.  On March 6, 1976, Donald was united in marriage to Mitzi Vettleson. They resided in Plummer, MN, where Don was a bank examiner for the state of North Dakota, a farmer and a business owner.  They moved to Montana where Don worked for the USDA until he retired to Dead Lake, near Dent, MN.  

Don loved the summers he and Mitzi shared on Dead Lake. He enjoyed boating, playing cards, riding motorcycle and entertaining family and friends.  During the winters, he enjoyed snowmobiling, working in the shed and snowblowing.   Later in life they enjoyed the warmer climate of south Texas in Edinburgh, TX and Mission, TX.  Don and Mitzi spent a lifetime making wonderful memories traveling.  Their adventures took them to Norway, Vietnam, Australia/New Zealand and Mexico along with some memorable RV excursions throughout the United States.

Donald is survived by his wife, Mitzi Pederson; son, Neil Pederson of Sioux Falls SD; daughters, Kristen Pederson of Sioux Falls, Jacquelyn Loeffen (Jon) of Sebeka, MN; and stepchildren, Caprice Nelson of West Fargo, ND, Raymond Nelson (Stefanie) of Moorhead, MN; grandchildren, Ella and Grace Loeffen, Sierra and Jolee Soma, Macalister and Amari Nelson. Don is also survived by several nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and other relatives.  

He was preceeded in death by his parents; siblings, Marilyn Anderson, and Harold Pederson;  grandson, Luke Pederson; and granddaughter, Vanessa Pederson.

Funeral service for Don will be Saturday, April 20, 2024 at 2pm in Korsmo Funeral and Cremation Service of Moorhead.   Visitation will be one hour prior.   Interment will be in Bruflat Lutheran Cemetery, Portland, ND.
