Donald V. Domek, age 88, Moorhead, MN, died Wednesday, Jan. 13, 2010 in Eventide Lutheran Home, Moorhead.

Don was born April 27, 1921, the son of John and Emma Domek, in rural Hancock, MN. He grew up and received his education in Hancock. In 1941, he entered the NDSU, school of pharmacy.
Following the bombing of Pearl Harbor, Don enlisted in the US Navy. He was attached to the US Marine Corps, as a hospital corpsman. He saw significant combat with the Marines in the south Pacific. He returned to states, received additional schooling at Norte Dame, and was assigned to a naval ship, headed for Japan, at the end of the war.

Following his discharge, he returned to Moorhead and finished his education at NDSU. He worked at a drug store in New Rockford, ND.

On October 16, 1947, Don married Jonella Larson. They lived in Thief River Falls, MN, and in Moorhead, where Don managed Wold Drug. Following Moorhead urban renewal, Don owned and operated his own drug store, Domek Drug.

In 1973, Don moved to Grand Rapids, Michigan, where he was a pharmacist for the VA. In 1975, he returned to Moorhead, and worked as a pharmacist at the Fargo VA Medical Center for more than 20 years. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Moorhead, the Minnesota Pharmaceutical Association, and the Kappa Psi Fraternity.

Don is survived by his wife, Jonella, Moorhead; three daughters, Cassandra (Chris) Torkildson, Sacramento, CA, , Melissa Domek, San Mateo, CA, and Amy Jo (Rex) Keeler, Lincoln, NE; and two sisters, Dorothy Roberts, Battle Lake, MN and Marion Sax, Hancock.
Informal wake: Wednesday, Jan. 20, 2010, from 6 PM to 8 PM in Korsmo Funeral Chapel, Moorhead.
